Welcome to our children’s programs at Redlands First United Methodist Church (RFUMC)! Here you’ll find a warm and caring environment where your children are nurtured as they grow in faith. Your child will learn about God, study the Bible, develop a solid religious foundation, make friends and have fun all in a safe and secure environment.

We have excellent nursery care available for our young children (infants, toddlers and preschoolers) in the church nursery, located on the first floor of the Education Building. In the nursery, you will find warm and caring nursery workers who love young children. All nursery workers are CPR certified. After signing in their child, parents are provided with pagers so they can be reached while participating in worship. The nursery is open from 8:00 a.m. to noon.
All children from age three through fifth grade are invited to attend worship with their families for the first fifteen minutes. After the “Time for Children”, they are excused to meet their Sunday School teachers in the Gathering Area and then walk to their classrooms in the Education Building. Children in grades kindergarten through fifth meet in Room 209 for a “One Room Sunday School”. Younger children meet in the nursery, Room 201.
Sunday morning enrichment classes are offered during the school year from 10:45 to noon. Classes have covered a wide variety of topics including music, cooking, arts and crafts, karate, holiday celebrations, service projects and more. Parents are invited to attend adult Sunday School classes which take place during this time.
If you’re looking for an active worship experience, then Messy Church is the place for you! We encourage churchgoers of all ages to join us. Our celebration message is shared with everyone through stories, songs, prayer, games, crafts and ends with a kid-friendly dinner. We meet once a month on Saturday nights from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. For current information, visit our Facebook page.
VBS (Vacation Bible School)
One of the highlights of summer at RFUMC is our Vacation Bible School. We gather all sorts of children, volunteers, music, songs, videos, crafts, stories and games and spend a wonderful week together getting to know each other and learning about the Bible. Check back here in the spring for more information about VBS 2017.
Since 1923, we have held the charter for the Inland Empire Council’s Boy Scout Troop 4. Camping, hiking, canoeing, service projects, summer camp and many additional activities are all part of the scouting program. Boys work hard and have fun as they advance through the scouting ranks. A large percentage of our scouts attain the rank of Eagle. If you’re looking for a way for your son to get out in the fresh air, learn leadership and traditional skills and make lifelong friends, then check out Troop 4.
Boys from first grade through fifth grade are invited to join Cub Scout Pack 24. The cubs meet regularly in dens with boys of the same age to experience a wide variety of activities and have adventures together. Monthly pack meetings and outings are for the entire family and offer a wide variety of events such as the Pinewood Derby, a cake decorating contest, the Blue and Gold dinner and family camping. Cub Scouts offer a great way for boys to have fun, experience new things and grow with their families.
