Welcome to our children’s programs at Redlands First United Methodist Church (RFUMC)! Here you’ll find a warm and caring environment where your children are nurtured as they grow in faith. Your child will learn about God, study the Bible, develop a solid religious foundation, make friends and have fun all in a safe and secure environment.

We have excellent nursery care available for our young children (infants, toddlers and preschoolers) in the church nursery, located on the first floor of the Education Building. In the nursery, you will find warm and caring nursery workers who love young children. All nursery workers are CPR certified. The nursery is open from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
All children from age five through fifth grade are invited to attend worship with their families for the first fifteen minutes. After the “Time for Children”, they are excused to meet their Sunday School teachers in the Gathering Area and then walk to their classrooms in the Education Building. Children in grades kindergarten through first grade will be in room 209A and second through fifth will be in room 202A. Younger children meet in the nursery. Sunday School hour lasts until 11:15 and is cut into two parts. Each Sunday the children are able to participate in a Bible Lesson with activities as well as Children’s Choir. During the choir time the children play games and sing songs while learning about music. Care is provided until Noon for any parents/guardians wanting to participate in adult Sunday School.
VBS (Vacation Bible School)
One of the highlights of summer at RFUMC is our Vacation Bible School. We gather all sorts of children, volunteers, music, songs, videos, crafts, stories and games and spend a wonderful week together getting to know each other and learning about the Bible.
Since 1923, we have held the charter for the Inland Empire Council’s Boy Scout Troop 4. Camping, hiking, canoeing, service projects, summer camp and many additional activities are all part of the scouting program. Boys work hard and have fun as they advance through the scouting ranks. A large percentage of our scouts attain the rank of Eagle. If you’re looking for a way for your son to get out in the fresh air, learn leadership and traditional skills and make lifelong friends, then check out Troop 4.
Boys from first grade through fifth grade are invited to join Cub Scout Pack 24. The cubs meet regularly in dens with boys of the same age to experience a wide variety of activities and have adventures together. Monthly pack meetings and outings are for the entire family and offer a wide variety of events such as the Pinewood Derby, a cake decorating contest, the Blue and Gold dinner and family camping. Cub Scouts offer a great way for boys to have fun, experience new things and grow with their families.
