Mission: The mission of the Church and Society Ministry is to foster Redlands First United Methodist Church’s involvement in social issues by educating the members of the congregation, by making connections outside the church, and by advocating for and responding to the needs of all people in God’s world.
Vision: Our vision is acting for Peace and Justice through social involvement; identifying the need and then doing something about it. It is Christian love in action.
For 2015, the focus of the Church and Society Ministry is on Health and Wholeness. We promote the Call to United Methodists and Congregations to take action by:
- Educating and motivating members to follow a healthy lifestyle
- Developing support systems for health care in the community
- Becoming advocates for a healthful environment
We have compiled a Healthy Living Resource Guide and detailed lists of support services located in Redlands and the Inland Empire. When viewing the list online, the user can click on the links and drill down to greater detail of information. The lists have phone numbers for obtaining more information.
The lists show where support can be accessed for addressing needs such as addictions, alcoholism (for adults, young adults, gays, children and adult children of alcoholics, Spanish families), grief, depression. There are support groups for mental illness, parenting and co-parenting, sexual abuse, cancer, caregivers, dyslexia — just to name a few.
